How it works in 4 steps

  1. Check your phone

    Your phone must support eSIM and be unlocked. On iPhone open Settings > Mobile Service; on Android open Settings > SIM manager. If you see “Add eSIM”, you are set.

  2. Choose your plan

    Open gigago, pick the data and the number of days, and enter your email and name.

  3. Pay and get the QR code

    Pay by bank transfer or card. The eSIM and its QR code arrive in your inbox in about 5 minutes.

  4. Scan and switch on

    Scan the QR code and follow the steps, ideally over Wi-Fi before your flight. When you land, turn on mobile data for the eSIM.

Vietnam eSIM: frequently asked questions

Will it work in Hoi An?

Yes. The plans cover Vietnam and run on Viettel / Wintel, so they work in Hoi An, Da Nang and Hue.

Which plan should I choose?

5 GB a day is enough for maps, messaging and social media, and it allows hotspot. Choose unlimited for heavy streaming, but note that hotspot is not included.

When does the validity start?

It starts when the eSIM is installed on your phone or connects to the supported network. The exact rule is shown on each plan on gigago, so read it before you install.

Can I renew or top up my data?

No. These data plans cannot be topped up. When the data runs out, the connection stops or slows down and you need to buy and activate a new eSIM.

Can I make calls and send SMS?

The plans listed here are data only, so there is no phone number for calls or SMS. WhatsApp, Zalo, Messenger, FaceTime and Skype keep working as usual.

Can I share my data with other devices?

Yes on the 5 GB a day plans. The unlimited plans do not allow hotspot.

Which phones support eSIM?

iPhone XR and XS or newer, Samsung Galaxy S20 or newer, and most recent Google Pixel phones, as long as the phone is carrier-unlocked. See the full list here.

How do I install the eSIM?

After you order and pay, you receive the QR code and the setup steps by email. gigago has guides for iPhone, Samsung and Google Pixel.

When will I receive the eSIM?

The QR code is emailed right after payment. If you see nothing after 5 minutes, check your spam or promotions folder, then contact support.

When should I install it?

Installation needs Wi-Fi, so install it before you fly. You can also install it on arrival, once you have the QR code and a Wi-Fi connection.

Do I need to turn on data roaming?

Yes. For the best signal, turn on data roaming for the eSIM in your phone settings. According to gigago this adds no extra data cost.

How fast is the network?

The plans use a leading carrier in Vietnam, with coverage in cities and in the countryside.

How many times can I scan the QR code?

Only once. If installation or activation fails, do not delete the eSIM and contact gigago support.

How do I pay?

By bank transfer (QR code) or by card. The price is in Vietnamese dong with 10% VAT included.

What is the refund policy?

You get a full refund if the eSIM was never installed (QR code not scanned) and you ask within 30 days, or if it is faulty after a correct installation and support confirms it. A partial refund is possible for an unstable connection. There is no refund for a wrong, incompatible or carrier-locked device, use outside Vietnam, or ignoring the installation guide. Contact support with your Order ID: the money goes back to your original payment method, usually in 3 to 5 working days.
