Documents, licence and deposit
-
- ID: show your passport or another photo ID. Your original passport is not kept.
-
- Licence: bikes over 50cc require a motorbike licence with an International Driving Permit (1968 convention). Electric scooters, 50cc bikes and bicycles need no licence.
-
- Deposit: a refundable 2,000,000₫ (≈ $77) deposit for some bikes, or a copy of your passport.
-
- Insurance: optional bodywork cover is available. It covers the bike only, not riders, so travel insurance is still a good idea.
-
- Payment: cash on delivery, bank transfer, card or PayPal.
Which bike should I choose?
-
- First time on a scooter: a VinFast electric scooter or a 50cc automatic. No gears, no licence, top speed around 50 km/h.
-
- Two people and day trips: a Honda Air Blade, Vision or Yamaha NVX has the power for Da Nang, My Son and the beaches.
-
- Comfort and style: the Honda PCX or SH Mode, with bigger seats and storage.
-
- Hai Van Pass and mountains: a Honda Winner, Yamaha XS155R or WR155R for confident riders.
-
- Slow and green: a bicycle or e-bike for the old town, Tra Que and An Bang beach.
