How long can you use it?

You get 5 GB of data each day, enough for maps, messaging, social media and photo uploads, and you can share it as a hotspot. This plan is valid for 15 days, which suits about two weeks on the road, with time to spare. Check on gigago when the validity starts for this plan: if it starts when the eSIM is installed, install it on the day you fly, and switch it on when you land. Data plans cannot be topped up, so if you stay longer, buy a longer plan or a second eSIM.

How to activate your eSIM

  1. Check your phoneIt must support eSIM and be carrier-unlocked. On iPhone open Settings › Mobile Service, on Android open Settings › SIM manager. If you see “Add eSIM”, you are ready.
  2. Choose this plan on gigagoTap the button on this page. On gigago pick the same data and number of days, enter your name and email, and pay in dong by bank transfer (QR) or by card.
  3. Get your QR codeThe eSIM and its QR code arrive by email about 5 minutes after payment. Nothing after 5 minutes? Check your spam or promotions folder.

Good to know before you buy

  • Data only. There is no Vietnamese phone number, so no calls or SMS. WhatsApp, Zalo, Messenger and FaceTime keep working. If an app must text a Vietnamese number (some food-delivery apps do), a physical SIM is safer.
  • Network. Viettel / Wintel, covering all of Vietnam including Hoi An, Da Nang and Hue.
